A prep sheet for a better health conversation

A short, calm list to take into an appointment when your mind goes blank at the door.

You do not need to arrive with a diagnosis. You can arrive with observations, questions, and a sense of what you want help understanding.

Bring the context

  • What changed, and when did you first notice it?
  • What makes the situation easier or harder?
  • What have you already tried or changed?
  • What matters most to you about the next step?

Ask for a clear handoff

It is reasonable to ask what to watch for, when to follow up, and where to find trustworthy written information. Taking notes or bringing someone you trust can help.
